25% lower charging costs and 900 thousand charging points required for successful e-truck ramp-up

By 2030, 40% of newly registered trucks in the EU must be emission-free – currently the proportion is less than 2%. One reason for this is the reluctance of logistics companies and fleet operators to buy. According to a recent study by McKinsey & Company, the acquisition costs of battery electric trucks would have to fall by up to 50% and charging costs by 25% compared to today in order to achieve a similar total cost of ownership to diesel trucks.
